Trip Overview

Journey from Chicago to the Great Southwest and on to Hollywood on the journey of a lifetime! Start in Chicago and experience the best of what the “Windy City” has to offer. From there you will head south through the American heartland to Santa Fe, a city steeped in rich history and culture. Following Santa Fe you will travel to the majestic Grand Canyon, one of the seven wonders of the world, where you will get to explore the South Rim. After your time in the Grand Canyon you will continue on to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, where you will have time to see the famous Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Sign, and the Walk of Fame. A wonderful journey across America awaits you!

Welcome to Chicago! Use your multi-day hop-on, hop-off sightseeing pass to visit famous Chicago attractions such as Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, Millennium Park and many more. On day 2, travel to the Amtrak station and board the Southwest Chief to Santa Fe. (Overnight in Chicago) D

DAY 3 OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Travel on your own to the Amtrak station and board the Southwest Chief® to Santa Fe. This gorgeous train ride takes you through curving canyon passages only a few feet wider than the train itself! You'll see spectacular landscapes and pristine vistas not visible from any highway. (Overnight onboard Amtrak)

DAYS 4-5 SANTA FE
Welcome to Santa Fe! Check into your hotel and start exploring. On day 5, enjoy a guided walking tour of the city and discover why visitors from around the world come here to vacation. (Overnight in Santa Fe)

DAY 6 SANTA FE TO WILLIAMS
ravel to the Amtrak station and board the train to Flagstaff. Check into your hotel and prepare for an adventure to the Grand Canyon tomorrow. (Overnight in Williams)

DAY 7 GRAND CANYON
Have breakfast at the Grand Depot Cafe before boarding the Grand Canyon Railway to the South Rim for a guided tour of the breathtaking landscape. (Overnight in the Grand Canyon) B

DAY 8 GRAND CANYON TO FLAGSTAFF
This morning, continue seeing the sights of the Canyon. Then, head to Flagstaff for a good night's rest. (Overnight in Flagstaff)

DAY 9 SEDONA
See the Red Rocks of Sedona with your included jeep tour. Then, explore Flagstaff on your own. (Overnight in Flagstaff)

DAY 10 OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
Today you have a free day to relax at your hotel or go out and explore the quaint city of Flagstaff. Then tonight you will board the Southwest Chief for your journey on to Los Angeles. (Overnight onboard Amtrak)

DAYS 11-12 LOS ANGELES
Welcome to Los Angeles! Check into your hotel and begin experiencing the city! A hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour will take you to top attractions such as Graumans Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Bowl. On day 12, continue visiting sights you didn't get to see yesterday. (Overnight in Los Angeles)

Bright Angel Lodge

Bright Angel Lodge, designed in 1935, has a natural, rustic character, and is a Registered National Historic Landmark. Designed by famed architect Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter (Mary E. J. Colter), it has always been a popular place to stay and the center of South Rim activity. Located just a few feet from the Canyon rim, Bright Angel Lodge is the check-in point for the world famous Grand Canyon Mule Rides.

El Tovar

El Tovar Hotel, the premier lodging facility at the Grand Canyon, opened its doors in 1905 and was most recently renovated in 2005. In the past, the Hotel has hosted such luminaries as Theodore Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, Western author Zane Grey, and many others. Today, El Tovar retains its elegant charm. Located on the Canyon rim, it features a fine dining room (open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), lounge and curio shop with newsstand.

Kachina Lodge

Located directly on the rim of the Grand Canyon, the Kachina Lodge is a great hotel for all guests visiting the South Rim.

Maswik Lodge

Maswik Lodge is a modern facility spread over several acres of ponderosa pine forest, located just 1/4 mile from the Canyon's edge. Maswik Lodge features a cafeteria that is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Here you will also find a sports bar with a wide screen TV, a curio shop stocked with handicrafts and gifts, and a transportation/activities desk.

Thunderbird Lodge

Conveniently located between El Tovar and Bright Angel Lodge, Thunderbird is a contemporary lodge located at the South Rim.

Yavapai Lodge

Yavapai Lodge is Grand Canyon National Park Lodges' largest facility and is surrounded by pinyon and juniper woodlands, about 1/2 mile from the rim. With modern rooms and many services within a few steps, this is a convenient choice for families. Yavapai East rooms feature in-room air conditioning and Yavapai West rooms have vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans. The Lodge is located next to the Market Plaza, which includes a general store, bank, and U.S. Post Office.
